Starlight Children's Foundation

JetSetBabies is helping kids by partnering with Starlight Children’s Foundation to help children fight life threatening and chronic illnesses and we need your help.

Starlight Children’s Foundation serves children fighting life threatening and chronic illnesses such as cancer, cystic fibrosis, HIV/AIDS, and kidney disease so that they can forget for a few moments about being sick and do what they do best – just be kids. Touching the lives of more than 180,000 children each month, Starlight uniquely offers a comprehensive menu of both "high tech" and "high touch" programs.

Between now and Dec 31st for every facebook fan and blog follower we get signed up, we'll donate $1 to Starlight. What will your $1 do?

Every $1 donated to Starlight provides a child with cancer to play video games for almost an entire day on a Starlight Fun Center while going through chemotherapy.

$1 for Starlight enables a hospitalized child to spend 5 hours reaching out to friends and family after visiting hours have ended using a PC Pal’s email and messaging tools.

$1 enables a teen who is too sick to leave home to spend one day finding supportive friends on Starlight’s Starbright World social network.

So pass the word to all your mom friends and help us reach up to 1000 fans as quickly as possible! Sign up for our JetSetBabies newsletter and we'll add on another $1!

If you are looking for a great pair of sunglasses that block UVA, UVB, and UVC rays and stay on the little ones, Eyes Cream Shades specialize in providing premium quality sunwear. They are designed specifically for children ages six months and above – and believe me they stay on!

They have polycarbonate lenses that block virtually 100% UVA, UVB, and UVC rays!

Need help with holiday travel - Check out Travel Mamas

While planning our two holiday trips this year, we are driving to South Caroline for Thanksgiving and flying to Florida for Christmas, I was a little nervous as how to travel with a 2 year old and a 7 month old. How do I keep them entertained on the drive? Do I buy one or two extra seats on the airplane? Airline tips? Will I forget anything? And who better to ask then mamas who have done it before!!! Travel Mamas was a great resource for me, I found a ton of tips and advise from other mom's. I was able to learn a lot from their travel tip page such as; what to bring, how to dress my kids and what snacks to pack. Their was also a great check list that was very helpful – when you are packing for 4 people sometimes you forget that you need socks. As you all know there a lot of things that go through your mind while planning a trip and sometimes it easy to forget the small things. Thanks Colleen at Travel Mamas for all her help, tips and advise I am very excited for my first holiday travels with my husband and two children.

Travel to Australia with a baby

We often have moms traveling to Australia with an infant that are very nervous about the long trip with such a little one. Who wouldn't be nervous. I was nervous on a two-hour plane trip with my baby, wondering what I would do if they screamed the entire trip. I've never flown internationally with my children, so unfortunately, I'm not much help in this area.

However, I've located a website from a seasoned traveled Mom who knows all about flying to Australia with a baby and she has a great resources on her website. The website is Lucy Loves Australia and her story is called "Lots more info on flying to Australia with babies and toddlers". It contains great information and even some tips on dealing with the jet lag. If you are planning any long trip with your babies, it's well worth the read!

Also, we get many calls on whether you can ship food and formula to Australia. The answer is YES. It's a bit tricky because there are some special documents that are required by the Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service and there is a weight limit on the amount you can ship ahead into the country, but we have done it successfully many times.

So relax moms, and go ahead and keep planning that trip of a lifetime!!! It can be done.

Affordable lodging options for your family vacation

Renting an apartment, renting university housing, or house swapping is a very affordable way to get in that family vacation you've dreamed of. Renting an apartment or a home can be much less money than paying for a hotel room. If you are traveling overseas, you may find that the cost savings will allow you to extend your stay even longer, making your trip a more memorable one.

In addition to the cheaper lodging costs, having access to a full kitchen to prepare your own meals can save a bundle. When traveling with children, eating out can not only be expensive, but can be difficult with fidgety kids, or pickey eaters. Having a space to prepare your own meals is much more affordable and you can make sure that kids get the meals they like and eat well while traveling.

Having access to separate bedrooms also makes sure everyone gets a good night sleep and children can take scheduled naps, adding to the enjoyment of everyone's vacation.

Some houses or apartments may also have laundry facilities allowing you to pack much lighter and save on baggage fees. JetSetBabies can ship packages to most home rentals by shipping directly to the management company that overseas the rentals or by schedule specific date and time deliveries with the carrier, basically, scheduling the package to deliver on your arrival date.

Here are some other websites that provide more information on arranging lodging alternatives:
